About the painting

Also known as Still Life with Fruit and Chestnuts, this painting has a history of questioned attribution. On April 23, 2019, the Van Gogh Museum reported that its researchers had confirmed it as a work by Vincent van Gogh. This review edition retains the qualified wording while the current Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco catalogue entry is checked.

The still life shows fruit and chestnuts on a tabletop. Technical examination and comparisons with other works informed the attribution research.
